What does an air-to-water heat pump cost in Upper Austria?
Total costs including installation are typically between €15,000 and €30,000, depending on required heating output, manufacturer and on-site conditions. When replacing an oil or gas heating system, the federal "Raus aus Öl und Gas" programme covers up to 30% of the costs, max. €7,500; Upper Austria may add regional grants. How quickly the switch pays off depends heavily on the building and energy prices – we calculate it individually for your home.
Heat pump or gas heating – which is better?
In most cases a heat pump is the better long-term choice. Operating costs are usually much lower than gas, there is no CO₂ pricing, and the switch is subsidised. Heat pumps work especially well with underfloor heating and photovoltaics. We advise individually on the best system for your building.
Can a heat pump be retrofitted in an older building?
Yes, modern air-to-water heat pumps work efficiently in older buildings too – especially if radiators with low flow temperatures (below 55°C) are already in place or underfloor heating can be retrofitted. We carry out a heat load calculation to find the best solution for your building.
What grants are available for heating replacement in Austria?
The federal "Raus aus Öl und Gas" programme supports switching from oil, gas or coal heating to a heat pump with up to 30% of eligible costs, max. €7,500. Upper Austria and municipalities may offer additional grants. As funding conditions change regularly, we keep you informed and help with the application.
How often does a heat pump need servicing?
A heat pump should be serviced once a year. Service includes checking the refrigerant circuit, cleaning the outdoor unit, checking electrical components and verifying heating performance. Service cost is approx. €150–€250 per year.
Do you also install underfloor heating as a retrofit?
Yes, when the floor build-up is renewed as part of a refurbishment. Whether and how this makes sense in your building, we check during an on-site visit. Ideal in combination with a heat pump heating replacement.
